BOW for the Week of: October 26 to November 1, 2011

Goose Island is Chicago’s greatest regional brewery growing from a single brewpub on Chicago’s north side in 1988 to now being bottled and sold in 15 states as well as the UK. (My apologies to those living in areas without access to Goose Island Beers.)

Goose Island Brewery has earned itself a loyal following with their flavorful line-up of regulars and seasonal brews that always seem to strike the perfect balance of classical styling with a steadfast Goose Island house style accent. Over a dozen different styles are produced each year.

We love this Ale. Perhaps it's merely the power of suggestion but the Goose Island Harvest Ale smells and tastes like fall. There is an autumnal accent to everything from the copper color to the hop and toasted malt aromas. Absolutely one of our favorite session beers of the season.

Tasting Notes:

Bright, brilliant clarity with an amber/copper hue. Roasted malt aromas with a generous dose of floral hops. Wonderfully fruity with accents of toasted banana bread with the perfect addition of fresh hops and winter spices. Far too many Beers in the style are over done with both hops and malt. This Harvest Ale, like so many of the Goose Island Beers, is distinguished by its careful balance and complexity. Fantastic! $7.99 per 6-pack
