Beverage of the Week (B.O.W)

BOW for the Week of: December 7 to December 13, 2011
Established in 1988 by brothers Patrick and Daniel Conway, Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLB) became the first microbrewery in the state of Ohio and today remains one of Ohio's most award-winning and trusted brewers.
Great Lakes Brewing had humble beginnings making about 1,000 barrels a year in their brewpub. The first brew was a Dortmunder-style lager that later became known as Dortmunder Gold. Soon other tasty Ales and Lagers followed. We have long been fans of their: Burning River Pale Ale, Conway's Irish Ale, Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, and Eliot Ness Amber Lager.
In 2000, Great Lakes Brewing opened its new, greatly expanded brewery that has allowed GLB to offer their beers to thirsty consumers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Wisconsin (as well as their native Ohio).
This holiday Ale always seems to run dry before Santa makes his rounds so be sure to get your Great Lakes Brewing Christmas Ale fast. If you are not fortunate enough to live in one of the brewery’s nine states of distribution, find a friend that is and have them send you some. Gift-wrapping and a bow are optional.
