Limoncello

Limoncello is a great lemon liqueur originating from the south of Italy near the Naples and Amalfi coast. The liqueur is produced by macerating fresh lemon zest, without the white pith, in neutral alcohol for typically five days. Once the fresh lemon oils are extracted the infused spirit is blended with a water and sugar mixture to achieve the desired sweetness. Limoncello is typically enjoyed after the meal. Once this liqueur was simply a staple of café’s and trattoria from Rome to Naples and further south. Today, Limoncello is fashionable almost everywhere being drunk on its own or as a part of a modern cocktail.
