Long gone are the days when light fizzy lagers ruled the summer drinks menu. It’s not that there were not always options but today these options are being explored with great vigor. We love a little (or a lot) vigor in our summer.

To kick-off the summer season we are offering our Top Ten Summer Cocktail selection. As you may have noticed, many of our summer cocktails feature fresh fruit and fruit juices, which are another rite of summer. Try all ten or pick a couple of favorites to be your cocktails this summer.

We love to feature a cocktail for each Friday’s happy hour to set the proper mood for the weekend. No paper umbrellas required…

Lemonade 21
Nothing refreshes as well as lemonade on a hot summer's day with the possible exception of our new, grown-up version. Sorry, but you have to be 21 to enjoy Lemonade 21. It's simple to construct and it’s a great idea for a party, cookout, or picnic.

Singapore Sling
Invented in the Raffles Hotel, Singapore sometime around 1910 to 1915, the original Singapore Sling looks nothing like the drink we see today. The original combined Gin, Cherry Brandy, and Benedictine shaken and topped with soda. The color was not shocking red as it is frequently seen today being colored with a healthy dose of grenadine.

Mai Tai
Victor Bergeron, best known as Trader Vic, in 1944, created this classic cocktail. The Second World War was in full swing on fronts in Europe and the Pacific and Bergeron was keen to create a mood-lifting cocktail made with the best possible ingredients. He first presented the drink to two friends visiting from Tahiti. His guests replied, Mai Tai, which in Tahitian means out of this world.

Daiquiri
What a classic cocktail and again what a platform to "create" a slew of flavor variations that have haunted the bartenders of years past (and still do in suburban strip malls). This cocktail was born organically if ever a cocktail has.

The Perfect Margarita
Nothing says summer like the margarita. Remember that no great Margarita can be made with inferior Tequila. Some may argue that the best in any category of Spirits should be relegated to a solo performer but in the case of Tequila, and the Margarita, this is simply not true. Don't skimp on your margaritas. Use quality spirits and nothing but fresh squeezed limejuice. You will be rewarded with a drink that is pure and refreshes like no other.

Summer does not mean that you should abandon brown Spirits. This classic cocktail is refreshing in any season. The Manhattan is a classic American cocktail.
